Home workshop week 15: “Digital learning workshop: my personal reflections”

My personal reflections of this workshop are the following; I really enjoyed this program because I really learnt a lot about digital tools in the pedagogical context. These tools that we have seen during the semester really helped me to understand artificial intelligence, on how to use it, the advantages and disadvantages. It was really cool the workshout that we did with the other headquarters of the university around the country. It was very nice because it was helpful to develop teamwork with people that you never had worked with.

Talking about some work that I have done for this workshop I am really glad for the presentation that I have done about learning styles with artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence (AI) enhances personalized learning by adapting educational content to each student’s pace, strengths, and challenges. It analyzes learning data to create customized paths, track progress, and provide tailored feedback. By identifying individual needs in real time, AI can adjust difficulty levels, simplify content for struggling learners, or add complexity to keep advanced students engaged. This approach fosters a student-centered experience, improving engagement and facilitating effective learning outcomes.

Here is it so you can see my presentation:

Another activity was one that we had to do by applying the TPACK model for an activity for school students. So first what is the TPACK model? The TPACK model (Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge) describes the integration of technology into teaching. It highlights three core areas: Technological Knowledge (TK) focuses on the tools used, Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) involves teaching strategies, and Content Knowledge (CK) relates to the subject matter. Effective teaching combines these areas to create meaningful and innovative learning experiences. The activity that I did was the following; The activity uses Quizlet to enhance descriptive writing. Teachers introduce vocabulary through explicit instruction and Quizlet flashcards. Students practice vocabulary, write a descriptive paragraph using at least five new words, and engage in peer review. This integrates pedagogy (explicit instruction), technology (Quizlet), and content (descriptive vocabulary).

This workshop provided a valuable learning experience by combining digital tools with pedagogical strategies. I gained insights into artificial intelligence, its applications, and its impact on personalized learning. Collaborative activities, like working with peers from different university headquarters, enhanced teamwork skills. Highlights included my presentation on learning styles with AI and applying the TPACK model through a Quizlet-based activity for descriptive writing. Overall, the program successfully integrated technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge, enriching my teaching approach and professional growth.

“My Language 4 Self-assessment 2024”

Well… I think that I’ve accomplished my goals of language 4 that were things like do well overall on the program, get better at writing essays and long texts, I still need to work on some sounds pronunciation like the “TH”, one think that I finally I’m good at is the perfect tenses so that’s very good I think.

Talking about the challenges of this semester, one of the hardest was definitely keeping on the rhythm of the program. You know the hardest subjects, every time the things that you had to learn were more and more complex  so yes, definitely this semester was a little harder than the previous ones.

I think that expectations are kinda similar to “goals” so I don’t have too much to say. Well if I understand correctly what expectations means I would have to say that my expectations were just to get good grades well must then get good grades is just don’t do the same subject next year so yes, I hope that I make it and not fail any subject.

Receiving feedback, this semester I received feedback from language 2 and language 6 students. Talking about that I really liked this feature because you receive feedback from younger students and elder students so is really good to listen and learn about differents perspectives

Overall, this semester has been challenging but rewarding. I’ve made good progress with writing essays and understanding perfect tenses, though I still need to work on my “TH” pronunciation. Keeping up with the pace of the program wasn’t easy, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. My main goal was to pass all my classes, and I really hope I’ve done enough to make that happen. Getting feedback from students at different levels was also super helpful—it gave me fresh perspectives and motivation to keep improving.

Home workshop week 11 : applying the TPACK model

Activity: Descriptive Writing Using Vocabulary from Quizlet

Pedagogy (PK):

  • Explicit vocabulary instruction: Begin by introducing key vocabulary words related to descriptive writing (e.g., words about texture, color, shape, size).

Technology (TK):

  • Quizlet:
    • Create a set of flashcards with the vocabulary students need for descriptive writing (e.g., shiny, rough, enormous, swiftly, brilliantly

Procedure:

  1. Introduction (10 minutes): Introduce descriptive writing and explain why using rich vocabulary is important.
  2. Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes): Introduce the key vocabulary words, explaining their meanings and usage in sentences.
  3. Quizlet Practice (15 minutes):
    • Share the Quizlet set with students and have them practice the vocabulary using the flashcards and games.
    • Monitor progress through Quizlet’s activity tracking feature.
  4. Writing Task (25 minutes): Students write a descriptive paragraph about a topic of their choice (e.g., “My Favorite Place” or “A Mysterious Object”) using at least five words from the Quizlet set.
  5. Peer Review (10 minutes): In pairs, students read each other’s paragraphs and check if they used the vocabulary correctly, giving constructive feedback.

Home workshop week 10 : applying the SAMR model

Activity one – (S) – Writing, Students send their doubts or question via E-Mail

Activity two – (A) – Writing, Students write an article (max one page) of whatever they want via Google Docs

Activity three – (M) – Writing, Students use Grammarly to write an extense article of whatever they want.

Activity four – (R) – Writing, Students connect with each other using and reading the work of their classmates on the page Edublogs.com

Home workshop week 9: International Faculty second session

Well we’re again for the second time, the international faculty activity of two weeks has ended, and I must say I really have learned a lot of things about artificial intelligence. For example we as a future teacher we need to use AI very carefully because it’s a very good tool to use as a teacher (helping with organize classes, create tests, and quizzes or create rubrics) but at the same time AI might be used in a bad way since it might give bad answers or not information or doesn’t give the complete information of something.

Like I said in the first session post on my blog, I really liked this activity because we had worked with the others students of the univeristy in differents cities like Santiago and Concepcion. For me working with other people that I don´t know is good since I can work on my shyness as the fact that I’m going to be teacher I need to get rid of that shyness so it’s was very good for me.

Another thing I want to mention is that during these two weeks, I also realized how important it is to stay updated with technology as a future teacher. We can’t ignore the fact that students will probably know more about certain tools than us, and we need to be prepared for that. It was really cool to see how some of my classmates were already using AI for their assignments or projects, and it made me think that we should never stop learning. I mean, the world is changing fast, and if we don’t adapt, we could fall behind. So yeah, this whole experience opened my eyes to how much responsibility we have as future educators.

Here are some of the best AI tools that you can use:

Home workshop week 8: International Faculty

Well, I think that thanks to this activity of this monday twenty-three of September was quite interesting, because I learned more things about artificial intelligence. I learned about this website called “Magic School” that is about artificial intelligence with tools to help teachers and educators doing activities, tests, quizzes. It also can help to organize classes, rubrics, etc as a personal take I think I’m going to use it in the future to help me in this program and to finish this program also.

This activity was quite fun because we had the chance to work alongside the others campus from Santiago and Concepcion, it’s always fun to work with new people talking from myself. I’m really glad that we had the chance to listen and learn with an expert on artificial intelligence and learn more about it and not only using the most normal one that is chatgpt.

One of the most important aspects of using artificial intelligence in education is its potential to adapt learning to the individual needs of students. For those who will be working with children, this is particularly valuable as AI algorithms can help identify each student’s strengths and weaknesses and provide personalized resources. This not only eases the teacher’s workload but also allows children to learn at their own pace, making the educational process more inclusive and effective.
